وقوله : ( ذلك جزاؤهم جهنم بما كفروا ) أي : إنما جازيناهم بهذا الجزاء جهنم ، بسبب كفرهم واتخاذهم آيات الله ورسله هزوا ، استهزءوا بهم ، وكذبوهم أشد التكذيب .
