يقول تعالى ذكره: كذّبت ثمود رسل الله, إذ دعاهم صالح أخوهم إلى الله, فقال لهم: ألا تتقون عقاب الله يا قوم على معصيتكم إياه, وخلافكم أمره, بطاعتكم أمر المفسدين في أرض الله.
