قال الله تعالى : ( فيومئذ ) أي : يوم القيامة ، ( لا ينفع الذين ظلموا معذرتهم ) أي : [ لا ينفعهم ] اعتذارهم عما فعلوا ، ( ولا هم يستعتبون ) أي : ولا هم يرجعون إلى الدنيا ، كما قال تعالى : ( وإن يستعتبوا فما هم من المعتبين ) [ فصلت : 24 ] .
