وقوله : ( كذلك يؤفك الذين كانوا بآيات الله يجحدون ) أي : كما ضل هؤلاء بعبادة غير الله ، كذلك أفك الذين من قبلهم ، فعبدوا غيره بلا دليل ولا برهان بل بمجرد الجهل والهوى ، وجحدوا حجج الله وآياته .
