( قالوا ضلوا عنا ) أي : ذهبوا فلم ينفعونا ، ( بل لم نكن ندعو من قبل شيئا ) أي : جحدوا عبادتهم ، كقوله تعالى : ( ثم لم تكن فتنتهم إلا أن قالوا والله ربنا ما كنا مشركين ) [ الأنعام : 23 ] ; ولهذا قال : ( كذلك يضل الله الكافرين ) .
