( وكذبوا واتبعوا أهواءهم ) أي : كذبوا بالحق إذ جاءهم ، واتبعوا ما أمرتهم به آراؤهم وأهواؤهم من جهلهم وسخافة عقلهم .
وقوله : ( وكل أمر مستقر ) قال قتادة : معناه : أن الخير واقع بأهل الخير ، والشر واقع بأهل الشر .
وقال ابن جريج : مستقر بأهله . وقال مجاهد : ( وكل أمر مستقر ) أي : يوم القيامة .
وقال السدي : ( مستقر ) أي : واقع .
