﴿فلما عتوا عن ما نهوا عنه قلنا لهم كونوا قردة خاسئين﴾: الفاء عاطفة، ولما رابطة أو حينية، وعما جار ومجرور متعلقان بعتوا، وجملة قلنا لا محل لها من الإعراب، وجملة كونوا في محل نصب مقول القول، وقردة خبر كونوا، وخاسئين صفة.
