( بل متعنا هؤلاء ) الكفار ، ( وآباءهم ) في الدنيا أي أمهلناهم . وقيل : أعطيناهم النعمة ، ( حتى طال عليهم العمر ) أي امتد بهم الزمان فاغتروا .
( أفلا يرون أنا نأتي الأرض ننقصها من أطرافها ) يعني ما ننقص من أطراف المشركين ونزيد في أطراف المؤمنين ، يريد ظهور النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وفتحه ديار الشرك أرضا فأرضا ، ( أفهم الغالبون ) أم نحن .
