"ولو نزلناه"، يعني القرآن، "على بعض الأعجمين"، جمع الأعجمي، وهو الذي لا يفصح ولا يحسن العربية إن كان عربياً في النسب، والعجمي: منسوب إلى العجم، وإن كان فصيحاً. ومعنى الآية: ولو نزلناه على رجل ليس بعربي اللسان.
