( فأهلكنا أشد منهم بطشا ) أي أقوى من قومك ، يعني الأولين الذين أهلكوا بتكذيب الرسل ، ( ومضى مثل الأولين ) أي صفتهم وسنتهم وعقوبتهم ، فعاقبة هؤلاء كذلك في الإهلاك .
