"إن هؤلاء"، يعني كفار مكة "يحبون العاجلة"، أي الدار العاجلة وهي الدنيا. "ويذرون وراءهم"، يعني أمامهم، "يوماً ثقيلاً"، شديداً وهو يوم القيامة. أي يتركونه فلا يؤمنون به ولا يعملون له.
