নিশ্চয় আমরা পূর্বেও আল্লাহকে আহবান করতাম।[১] নিশ্চয় তিনি কৃপাময়, পরম দয়ালু।’
[১] অর্থাৎ, আমরা একমাত্র তাঁরই উপাসনা করতাম। তাঁর সাথে কাউকে অংশীদার স্থাপন করতাম না। কিংবা এর অর্থ এই যে, জাহান্নামের শাস্তি থেকে বাঁচার জন্য আমরা কেবল তাঁরই নিকট প্রার্থনা করতাম।
