( قالوا لقد علمت ما لنا في بناتك من حق ) أي : إنك تعلم أن نساءنا لا أرب لنا فيهن ولا نشتهيهن ، ( وإنك لتعلم ما نريد ) أي : ليس لنا غرض إلا في الذكور ، وأنت تعلم ذلك ، فأي حاجة في تكرار القول علينا في ذلك ؟
قال السدي : ( وإنك لتعلم ما نريد ) إنما نريد الرجال .
