The Quran Corpus and Grammar Tool is a work in progress. Stay tuned for updates as we continue to develop this tool to provide in-depth analysis and insights into the grammar and linguistic structure of the Quranic text.
The first word of verse (12:57) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A conjunction, emphatic prefix and noun. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The prefixed particle lām is usually translated as "surely" or "indeed" and is used to add emphasis. The noun is masculine and is in the nominative case (مرفوع). The noun's triliteral root is hamza jīm rā (أ ج ر).
