Quran Corpus and Grammar Tool
The Quran Corpus and Grammar Tool is a work in progress. Stay tuned for updates as we continue to develop this tool to provide in-depth analysis and insights into the grammar and linguistic structure of the Quranic text.
The first word of verse (2:241) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A resumption particle, preposition and passive participle. The connective particle wa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The prefixed preposition lām is usually translated as "for". The form II passive participle is feminine plural and is in the genitive case (مجرور). The passive participle's triliteral root is ṭā lām qāf (ط ل ق). Together the segments form a preposition phrase known as jār wa majrūr (جار ومجرور).
