25:38 - Al-Furqan

Verse 38

وَعَادٗا وَثَمُودَاْ وَأَصۡحَٰبَ ٱلرَّسِّ وَقُرُونَۢا بَيۡنَ ذَٰلِكَ كَثِيرٗا ٣٨
Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Also ˹We destroyed˺ ’Ȃd, Thamûd, and the people of the Water-pit,1 as well as many peoples in between.
36:30 - Ya-Sin

Verse 30

يَٰحَسۡرَةً عَلَى ٱلۡعِبَادِۚ مَا يَأۡتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ ٣٠
Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Oh pity, such beings! No messenger ever came to them without being mocked.
36:29 - Ya-Sin

Verse 29

إِن كَانَتۡ إِلَّا صَيۡحَةٗ وَٰحِدَةٗ فَإِذَا هُمۡ خَٰمِدُونَ ٢٩
Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
All it took was one ˹mighty˺ blast, and they were extinguished at once.
36:28 - Ya-Sin

Verse 28

۞ وَمَآ أَنزَلۡنَا عَلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِۦ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦ مِن جُندٖ مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَمَا كُنَّا مُنزِلِينَ ٢٨
Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
We did not send any soldiers from the heavens against his people after his death, nor did We need to.
36:27 - Ya-Sin

Verse 27

بِمَا غَفَرَ لِي رَبِّي وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ ٱلۡمُكۡرَمِينَ ٢٧
Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
of how my Lord has forgiven me, and made me one of the honourable.”
36:26 - Ya-Sin

Verse 26

قِيلَ ٱدۡخُلِ ٱلۡجَنَّةَۖ قَالَ يَٰلَيۡتَ قَوۡمِي يَعۡلَمُونَ ٢٦

˹But they killed him, then˺ he was told ˹by the angels˺, “Enter Paradise!” He said, “If only my people knew
36:25 - Ya-Sin

Verse 25

إِنِّيٓ ءَامَنتُ بِرَبِّكُمۡ فَٱسۡمَعُونِ ٢٥

I do believe in your Lord, so listen to me.”
36:24 - Ya-Sin

Verse 24

إِنِّيٓ إِذٗا لَّفِي ضَلَٰلٖ مُّبِينٍ ٢٤
Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Indeed, I would then be clearly astray.
36:23 - Ya-Sin

Verse 23

ءَأَتَّخِذُ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ ءَالِهَةً إِن يُرِدۡنِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ بِضُرّٖ لَّا تُغۡنِ عَنِّي شَفَٰعَتُهُمۡ شَيۡـٔٗا وَلَا يُنقِذُونِ ٢٣
Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
How could I take besides Him other gods whose intercession would not be of any benefit to me, nor could they save me if the Most Compassionate intended to harm me?
36:22 - Ya-Sin

Verse 22

وَمَا لِيَ لَآ أَعۡبُدُ ٱلَّذِي فَطَرَنِي وَإِلَيۡهِ تُرۡجَعُونَ ٢٢
Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
And why should I not worship the One Who has originated me, and to Whom you will be returned.
36:21 - Ya-Sin

Verse 21

ٱتَّبِعُواْ مَن لَّا يَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ أَجۡرٗا وَهُم مُّهۡتَدُونَ ٢١

Follow those who ask no reward of you, and are ˹rightly˺ guided.
36:20 - Ya-Sin

Verse 20

وَجَآءَ مِنۡ أَقۡصَا ٱلۡمَدِينَةِ رَجُلٞ يَسۡعَىٰ قَالَ يَٰقَوۡمِ ٱتَّبِعُواْ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ ٢٠
Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Then from the farthest end of the city a man came, rushing. He advised, “O my people! Follow the messengers.
50:13 - Qaf

Verse 13

وَعَادٞ وَفِرۡعَوۡنُ وَإِخۡوَٰنُ لُوطٖ ١٣

’Ȃd, Pharaoh, the kinfolk of Lot,
50:12 - Qaf

Verse 12

كَذَّبَتۡ قَبۡلَهُمۡ قَوۡمُ نُوحٖ وَأَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلرَّسِّ وَثَمُودُ ١٢

Before them, the people of Noah denied ˹the truth,˺ as did the people of the Water-pit,1 Thamûd,
