وَٱلۡعَٰدِيَٰتِ ضَبۡحٗا ١

By the galloping, panting horses,1
100:2 - Al-'Adiyat

Verse 2

فَٱلۡمُورِيَٰتِ قَدۡحٗا ٢

striking sparks of fire ˹with their hoofs˺,
100:3 - Al-'Adiyat

Verse 3

فَٱلۡمُغِيرَٰتِ صُبۡحٗا ٣

launching raids at dawn,
100:4 - Al-'Adiyat

Verse 4

فَأَثَرۡنَ بِهِۦ نَقۡعٗا ٤

stirring up ˹clouds of˺ dust,
100:5 - Al-'Adiyat

Verse 5

فَوَسَطۡنَ بِهِۦ جَمۡعًا ٥

and penetrating into the heart of enemy lines!
59:6 - Al-Hashr

Verse 6

وَمَآ أَفَآءَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِۦ مِنۡهُمۡ فَمَآ أَوۡجَفۡتُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۡ خَيۡلٖ وَلَا رِكَابٖ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُسَلِّطُ رُسُلَهُۥ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ قَدِيرٞ ٦
Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
As for the gains Allah has turned over to His Messenger from them—you did not ˹even˺ spur on any horse or camel for such gains. But Allah gives authority to His messengers over whoever He wills. For Allah is Most Capable of everything.
100:6 - Al-'Adiyat

Verse 6

إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ لِرَبِّهِۦ لَكَنُودٞ ٦

Surely humankind is ungrateful to their Lord—
100:7 - Al-'Adiyat

Verse 7

وَإِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكَ لَشَهِيدٞ ٧
Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
and they certainly attest to this—
16:8 - An-Nahl

Verse 8

وَٱلۡخَيۡلَ وَٱلۡبِغَالَ وَٱلۡحَمِيرَ لِتَرۡكَبُوهَا وَزِينَةٗۚ وَيَخۡلُقُ مَا لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ ٨
Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
˹He also created˺ horses, mules, and donkeys for your transportation and adornment. And He creates what you do not know.
3:14 - Ali 'Imran

Verse 14

زُيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ حُبُّ ٱلشَّهَوَٰتِ مِنَ ٱلنِّسَآءِ وَٱلۡبَنِينَ وَٱلۡقَنَٰطِيرِ ٱلۡمُقَنطَرَةِ مِنَ ٱلذَّهَبِ وَٱلۡفِضَّةِ وَٱلۡخَيۡلِ ٱلۡمُسَوَّمَةِ وَٱلۡأَنۡعَٰمِ وَٱلۡحَرۡثِۗ ذَٰلِكَ مَتَٰعُ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَاۖ وَٱللَّهُ عِندَهُۥ حُسۡنُ ٱلۡمَـَٔابِ ١٤
Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
The enjoyment of ˹worldly˺ desires—women, children,1 treasures of gold and silver, fine horses, cattle, and fertile land—has been made appealing to people. These are the pleasures of this worldly life, but with Allah is the finest destination.
38:31 - Sad

Verse 31

إِذۡ عُرِضَ عَلَيۡهِ بِٱلۡعَشِيِّ ٱلصَّٰفِنَٰتُ ٱلۡجِيَادُ ٣١
Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
˹Remember˺ when the well-trained, swift horses were paraded before him in the evening.
38:32 - Sad

Verse 32

فَقَالَ إِنِّيٓ أَحۡبَبۡتُ حُبَّ ٱلۡخَيۡرِ عَن ذِكۡرِ رَبِّي حَتَّىٰ تَوَارَتۡ بِٱلۡحِجَابِ ٣٢
Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
He then proclaimed, “I am truly in love with ˹these˺ fine things out of remembrance for my Lord,” until they went out of sight.
38:33 - Sad

Verse 33

رُدُّوهَا عَلَيَّۖ فَطَفِقَ مَسۡحَۢا بِٱلسُّوقِ وَٱلۡأَعۡنَاقِ ٣٣
Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
˹He ordered,˺ “Bring them back to me!” Then he began to rub down their legs and necks.1 
17:64 - Al-Isra

Verse 64

وَٱسۡتَفۡزِزۡ مَنِ ٱسۡتَطَعۡتَ مِنۡهُم بِصَوۡتِكَ وَأَجۡلِبۡ عَلَيۡهِم بِخَيۡلِكَ وَرَجِلِكَ وَشَارِكۡهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأَمۡوَٰلِ وَٱلۡأَوۡلَٰدِ وَعِدۡهُمۡۚ وَمَا يَعِدُهُمُ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ إِلَّا غُرُورًا ٦٤
Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
And incite whoever you can of them with your voice, mobilize against them all your cavalry and infantry, manipulate them in their wealth and children, and make them promises.” But Satan promises them nothing but delusion.
