In Arabic, a root is the small set of consonants — usually three — that a whole
family of related words is built from. Grouping words by root reveals how Quranic vocabulary connects:
الرَّحْمَـٰن, الرَّحِيم and
رَحْمَة all come from ر ح م.
This resource gives the roots of an ayah at a time: for each ayah, the roots of its
words in the order the words appear. If you need the root of one specific word instead, use the
Word root resource.
Example
Ayah 73:4 has these roots:
73:4
زيد رتل قرا رتل
