Tafheem-ul-Quran - Abul Ala Maududi translation for Surah Az-Zukhruf — Ayah 22

43:22
Nay; they simply claim: “We found our forefathers on a way, and we continue to find guidance in their footsteps.”1
Footnotes
  • [1] Though pagan Arabs considered having daughters to be shameful, they attributed it to God, so the Qur’an is debating them according to their own logic.
  • [2] That is, they have no authority of any divine book. The only authority they have is that it has been the practice since the time of their forefathers. Therefore, they have taken the angels as goddesses in imitation of them.
