آیت 16{ اِتَّخَذُوْٓا اَیْمَانَہُمْ جُنَّۃً } ”انہوں نے اپنی قسموں کو ڈھال بنا لیا ہے“ یہ لوگ جھوٹی قسموں کو اپنی کمزوریوں کی ڈھال کے طور پر استعمال کرتے تھے۔ جہاں کہیں کسی کی کسی بات پر گرفت ہوتی ‘ وہ فوراً قسمیں کھانا شروع کردیتا کہ اللہ کی قسم اصل میں یہ معاملہ یوں نہیں تھا بلکہ یوں تھا۔ اس طرح اس کا مخاطب مروّت میں آکر خاموشی اختیار کرلیتا۔ { فَصَدُّوْا عَنْ سَبِیْلِ اللّٰہِ فَلَہُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّہِیْنٌ۔ } ”پس وہ اللہ کے راستے سے رک گئے ہیں اور دوسروں کو بھی روکتے ہیں پس ان کے لیے اہانت آمیز عذاب ہے۔“ صَدَّ یَصُدُّ کے معنی خود رکنا بھی ہیں اور دوسروں کو روکنا بھی۔
