آیت 25{ قُلْ اِنْ اَدْرِیْٓ اَقَرِیْبٌ مَّا تُوْعَدُوْنَ اَمْ یَجْعَلُ لَہٗ رَبِّیْٓ اَمَدًا۔ } ”آپ ﷺ یہ بھی کہہ دیجیے کہ مجھے معلوم نہیں کہ جس چیز کا تم سے وعدہ کیا جا رہا ہے وہ قریب آچکی ہے یا میرا رب اس کی مدت اور لمبی کر دے گا۔“ مَا تُوْعَدُوْنَ کا ترجمہ یوں بھی ہوسکتا ہے کہ وہ چیز جس کی تم لوگوں کو وعید یا دھمکی دی جا رہی ہے۔ وعدہ اور وعید دونوں الفاظ ایک ہی مادہ وعد سے مشتق ہیں۔ اس لحاظ سے وعید دھمکی کی حیثیت بھی گویا ایک وعدے کی سی ہے۔ اس آیت کا مضمون ملتے جلتے الفاظ میں سورة الانبیاء کی اس آیت میں بھی آچکا ہے : { وَاِنْ اَدْرِیْٓ اَقَرِیْبٌ اَمْ بَعِیْدٌ مَّا تُوْعَدُوْنَ۔ } کہ اے نبی ﷺ آپ انہیں بتادیں کہ میں نہیں جانتا کہ جس چیز کا تم سے وعدہ کیا جا رہا ہے وہ قریب آچکی ہے یا ابھی دور ہے۔
