واعْلَمْ أنَّهُ تَعالى لَمّا حَكى عَنِ الكُفّارِ هَذا القَوْلَ قالَ: ﴿فاعْتَرَفُوا بِذَنْبِهِمْ﴾ قالَ مُقاتِلٌ: يَعْنِي بِتَكْذِيبَهُمُ الرَّسُولَ وهو قَوْلُهم: ﴿فَكَذَّبْنا وقُلْنا ما نَزَّلَ اللَّهُ مِن شَيْءٍ﴾ وقَوْلُهُ: ﴿بِذَنْبِهِمْ﴾ فِيهِ قَوْلانِ:
أحَدُهُما: أنَّ الذَّنْبَ هَهُنا في مَعْنى الجَمْعِ؛ لِأنَّ فِيهِ مَعْنى الفِعْلِ، كَما يُقالُ: خَرَجَ عَطاءُ النّاسِ، أيْ عَطِيّاتِهِمْ هَذا قَوْلُ الفَرّاءِ.
والثّانِي: يَجُوزُ أنْ يُرادَ بِالواحِدِ المُضافِ الشّائِعَ، كَقَوْلِهِ: ﴿وإنْ تَعُدُّوا نِعْمَةَ اللَّهِ﴾ (إبْراهِيمَ: ٣٤) .

ثُمَّ قالَ: ﴿فَسُحْقًا لِأصْحابِ السَّعِيرِ﴾ قالَ المُفَسِّرُونَ: فَبُعْدًا لَهُمُ اعْتَرَفُوا أوْ جَحَدُوا، فَإنَّ ذَلِكَ لا يَنْفَعُهم، والسُّحْقُ البُعْدُ، وفِيهِ لُغَتانِ: التَّخْفِيفُ والتَّثْقِيلُ، كَما تَقُولُ في العُنُقِ والطُّنُبِ، قالَ الزَّجّاجُ: سُحْقًا مَنصُوبٌ عَلى المَصْدَرِ، والمَعْنى أسْحَقَهُمُ اللَّهُ سُحْقًا، أيْ باعَدَهُمُ اللَّهُ مِن رَحْمَتِهِ مُباعَدَةً، وقالَ أبُو عَلِيٍّ الفارِسِيُّ: كانَ القِياسُ سِحاقًا، فَجاءَ المَصْدَرُ عَلى الحَذْفِ كَقَوْلِهِمْ: عَمْرَكَ اللَّهَ.
