﴿وَجَعَلْنَا اللَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا﴾ قال عطاء: يريد لتسكنوا فيه، وتأووا إليه [[لم أعثر على مصدر لقوله.]]، ونحو هذا قال مقاتل: يعني سكن، كقوله: ﴿هُنَّ لِبَاسٌ لَكُمْ﴾ [البقرة: 187] [[لم أعثر على مصدر لقوله.]].
قال أبو إسحاق: أي يسكنون فيه، وهو مشتمل [عليكم] [[في (أ): عليه والمثبت من المعاني.]].
وقال أهل المعاني: إنما سمي الليل لباساً لأنه يلبس كل شيء بظلمته [["معاني القرآن وإعرابه" 5/ 272 بتصرف يسير.]].
ستر اللباس من الثوب، ومنه قول ذي الرمة:
فلمَّا لبسْن الليلَ أو حينَ نصَّبتْ ... له مِنْ خذا آذانها وَهْوَ جانِحُ [[ورد البيت في "ديوانه" 2/ 897، "جامع البيان" 30/ 3.
ومعناه: لبسن الليل: أي دخلن فيه، وقوله: أو حين نصبت له من خذا آذانها: يريد نصبت آذانها لبرد الليل، كانت قد خفضتها، كانت منكبات الرؤوس، ثم رفعت رؤوسها، ونصبت آذانها في ذا الوقت. حين جنح الليل، أي: دنا، والخذا الاسترخاء. "ديوانه" 897 - 898.]]
فجعل الليل يلبس، وإذا لبس فهو لباس، واللباس ساتر، وكذا الليل ساتر بظلمته كل شيء [[لم أعثر على مصدر لقولهم، وقد أورد الطبري معنى قول أهل المعاني. انظر: "جامع البيان" 30/ 3.]].

Tafsir content may span multiple ayahs. QUL exports both the tafsir text and the ayahs it applies to.
