(قوله تعالى) [[ما بين القوسين ساقط من: ع.]]: ﴿وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَيْهَا غَبَرَةٌ﴾ قال الليث: الغَبَرَة: لَطْخُ غبار، والغُبْرَة: اغبِرار اللَّوْن يَغْبَرُّ لِلْهَمِّ [[في (ع): لهم.]] [["تهذيب اللغة" 8/ 122: (غير) بنصه. وانظر: "لسان العرب" 5/ 5: (غبر)، ونسبه إلى أبي علي.]].
وقال المبرد: الغبرة ما يصيب الإنسان من الغبار المعفر على الألوان [["التفسير الكبير" 31/ 66.]].
والمفسرون يقولون: سواد [[قال بذلك: مقاتل. انظر: "زاد المسير" 8/ 186، وإليه ذهب البغوي في: "معالم التنزيل" 4/ 450، والخازن في: "لباب التأويل" 4/ 355.
وقال ابن عطية: هو العبوس والهم. "المحرر الوجيز" 5/ 440، وهو معنى ما ذهب إليه مقاتل، وبمثل قول ابن عطية ذهب أبو حيان في "البحر" 8/ 430.
وعلى هذا فقوله: "عليها غبرة" يحتمل وجهين:
أحدهما: أنه غبار جعل شيئًا لهم ليتميزوا به فيعرفوا، وهو ما ذهب إليه الطبري في: "جامع البيان" 30/ 63، والثعلبي في: "الكشف والبيان" ج 13: 42/ ب، والزمخشري في: "الكشاف" 4/ 187، والقرطبي في: "الجامع لأحكام القرآن" 19/ 224.
والثاني: أنه كناية عن كمد وجوههم بالحزن حتى صارت كالغبرة، وهو ما ذهب إليه المفسرون بقول الواحدي.
