ثم ذكر أكبر ذنوبهم فقال : ( قد كانت آياتي تتلى عليكم فكنتم على أعقابكم تنكصون ) أي : إذا دعيتم أبيتم ، وإن طلبتم امتنعتم; ( ذلكم بأنه إذا دعي الله وحده كفرتم وإن يشرك به تؤمنوا فالحكم لله العلي الكبير ) [ غافر : 12 ] .
