( لا يؤمنون به ) يعني : لا يؤمنون بمحمد صلى الله عليه وسلم وبالقرآن ( وقد خلت ) مضت ( سنة الأولين ) أي : وقائع الله تعالى بالإهلاك فيمن كذب الرسل من الأمم الخالية ، يخوف أهل مكة .
