وقوله : ( والذين تدعون من دونه ) إلى آخر الآية ، مؤكد لما تقدم ، إلا أنه بصيغة الخطاب ، وذلك بصيغة الغيبة ; ولهذا قال : ( لا يستطيعون نصركم ولا أنفسهم ينصرون )
وقال السدي : المراد بهذا المشركون وروي عن مجاهد نحوه . والأول أولى ، وهو اختيار ابن جرير ، وقاله قتادة .
