Translation for 7:28

Whenever they commit a shameful deed,¹ they say, “We found our forefathers doing it and Allah has commanded us to do it.” Say, “No! Allah never commands what is shameful. How can you attribute to Allah what you do not know?”

It was customary for the pagans of Mecca to circle the Ka’bah while naked. So verses 26-31 of this sûrah were revealed commanding the believers to cover themselves properly when praying to their Lord.
