The thirteenth word of verse (7:172) is divided into 3 morphological segments. An interrogative alif, verb and subject pronoun. The prefixed alif is an interrogative particle used to form a question and is usually translated as "is", "are", or "do". The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is first person singular. The verb's triliteral root is lām yā sīn (ل ي س). The verb (لس) belongs to a special group of words known as kāna and her sisters (كان واخواتها). The suffix (التاء) is an attached subject pronoun.
