The first word of verse (16:16) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A conjunction and noun. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The indefinite noun is feminine plural and is in the genitive case (مجرور). The noun's triliteral root is ʿayn lām mīm (ع ل م).
