The seventeenth word of verse (2:185) is divided into 4 morphological segments. A result particle, imperative particle, verb and object pronoun. The result particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate the result of a condition. The prefixed particle lām is usually translated as "let" and is used to form an imperative construction. The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person masculine singular and is in the jussive mood (مجزوم). The verb's triliteral root is ṣād wāw mīm (ص و م).
