The first word of verse (19:31) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A conjunction, verb and object pronoun. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine singular. The verb's triliteral root is jīm ʿayn lām (ج ع ل). The attached object pronoun is first person singular.
