The first word of verse (19:77) is divided into 4 morphological segments. An interrogative alif, supplemental particle, verb and subject pronoun. The prefixed alif is an interrogative particle used to form a question and is usually translated as "is", "are", or "do". The supplemental particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so". The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is second person masculine singular. The verb's triliteral root is rā hamza yā (ر أ ي). The suffix (التاء) is an attached subject pronoun.
