The fourth word of verse (2:277) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A conjunction, verb and subject pronoun. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is ʿayn mīm lām (ع م ل). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.
