The 25th word of verse (29:10) is divided into 3 morphological segments. An interrogative alif, supplemental particle and verb. The prefixed alif is an interrogative particle used to form a question and is usually translated as "is", "are", or "do". The supplemental particle wa is usually translated as "then" or "so". The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine singular. The verb's triliteral root is lām yā sīn (ل ي س). The verb (ليس) belongs to a special group of words known as kāna and her sisters (كان واخواتها).
