The prefixed alif is an interrogative particle used to form a question and is usually translated as "is", "are", or "do". The form VIII perfect verb (فعل ماض) is first person plural. The verb's triliteral root is hamza khā dhāl (أ خ ذ). The suffix (نا) is an attached subject pronoun. The attached object pronoun is third person masculine plural.
