The first word of verse (3:174) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A conjunction, verb and subject pronoun. The prefixed conjunction fa is usually translated as "and". The form VII perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is qāf lām bā (ق ل ب). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.
