The first word of verse (79:20) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A resumption particle, verb and object pronoun. The connective particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine singular. The verb's triliteral root is rā hamza yā (ر أ ي). The attached object pronoun is third person masculine singular.
