The first word of verse (4:127) is divided into 4 morphological segments. A resumption particle, verb, subject pronoun and object pronoun. The connective particle wa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The form X imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person masculine plural and is in the indicative mood (مرفوع). The verb's triliteral root is fā tā yā (ف ت ي). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun. The attached object pronoun is second person masculine singular.
