The first word of verse (5:50) is divided into 3 morphological segments. An interrogative alif, supplemental particle and noun. The prefixed alif is an interrogative particle used to form a question and is usually translated as "is", "are", or "do". The supplemental particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so". The noun is masculine and is in the accusative case (منصوب). The noun's triliteral root is ḥā kāf mīm (ح ك م).
