The thirteenth word of verse (5:52) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A resumption particle and verb. The connective particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine singular. The verb's triliteral root is ʿayn sīn yā (ع س ي). The verb (عسى) belongs to a special group of words known as kāda and her sisters (كاد واخواتها).
