The first word of verse (7:43) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A resumption particle, verb and subject pronoun. The connective particle wa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is first person plural. The verb's triliteral root is nūn zāy ʿayn (ن ز ع). The suffix (نا) is an attached subject pronoun.
