وَلَوۡ أَنَّآ أَهۡلَكۡنَٰهُم بِعَذَابٖ مِّن قَبۡلِهِۦ لَقَالُواْ رَبَّنَا لَوۡلَآ أَرۡسَلۡتَ إِلَيۡنَا رَسُولٗا فَنَتَّبِعَ ءَايَٰتِكَ مِن قَبۡلِ أَن نَّذِلَّ وَنَخۡزَىٰ ١٣٤

Suhel Farooq Khan:

और अगर हम उनको इस रसूल से पहले अज़ाब से हलाक कर डालते तो ज़रूर कहते कि ऐ हमारे पालने वाले तूने हमारे पास (अपना) रसूल क्यों न भेजा तो हम अपने ज़लील व रूसवा होने से पहले तेरी आयतों की पैरवी ज़रूर करते

Maulana Azizul Haque al-Umari:

और यदि हम वास्तव में उन्हें इससे पहले किसी अज़ाब से विनष्ट कर देते, तो ये लोग अवश्य कहते : ऐ हमारे रब! तूने हमारी ओर कोई रसूल क्यों नहीं भेजा कि हम तेरी आयतों की पैरवी करते, इससे¹ पहले कि हम ज़लील और रुसवा हों?
