وَإِذَا حُيِّيتُم بِتَحِيَّةٖ فَحَيُّواْ بِأَحۡسَنَ مِنۡهَآ أَوۡ رُدُّوهَآۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٍ حَسِيبًا ٨٦

Suhel Farooq Khan:

और जब कोई शख्स सलाम करे तो तुम भी उसके जवाब में उससे बेहतर तरीक़े से सलाम करो या वही लफ्ज़ जवाब में कह दो बेशक ख़ुदा हर चीज़ का हिसाब करने वाला है

Maulana Azizul Haque al-Umari:

और जब तुमसे सलाम किया जाए, तो उससे अच्छा उत्तर दो अथवा उसी को दोहरा दो। निःसंदेह अल्लाह प्रत्येक चीज़ का ह़िसाब लेने वाला है।
