﴿أو زد عليه﴾ على النِّصف إلى الثُّلثين جعل له سعةً في مدَّة قيامه في اللَّيل فكأنَّه قال: قم ثلثي اللَّيل أو نصفه أو ثلثه فلمَّا نزلت هذه الآية أخذ المسلمون أنفسهم بالقيام على هذا المقادير وشقَّ ذلك عليهم لأنهم لكم يمكنهم أن يحفظوا هذه المقادير وكانوا يقومون اللَّيل كله حتى انتفخت أقدامهم ثمَّ خفَّف الله عنهم بآخر هذه السُّورة وهو قوله: ﴿إنَّ ربك يعلم أنك تقوم﴾ الآية ثمَّ نسخ قيام اللَّيل بالصَّلوات الخمس وكان هذا في صدر الإِسلام وقوله: ﴿ورتل القرآن ترتيلاً﴾ أَي: بيِّنه تبييناً بعضُه على إثر بعضٍ في تودة

<i>, etc.

Tafsir content may span multiple ayahs. QUL exports both the tafsir text and the ayahs it applies to.
