Tafheem-ul-Quran - Abul Ala Maududi translation for Surah Muhammad — Ayah 1

47:1
ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَصَدُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ أَضَلَّ أَعۡمَٰلَهُمۡ ١
Allah has caused the works of those who disbelieve1 and hinder people from the way of Allah2 to go to waste.3

  • [1] The Arabic word used is Qur’an which literally means ‘recital’ or ‘recitation’.
  • [2] Qira’at: Ibn Kathir and Shuʻba read it as: “Upon them are garments of green silk, and (upon them is) brocade . . .”Abu ʻAmr, Ibn ʻAmer, Abu Jaʻfar and Yaʻqub read it as: “. . . green garments of silk and of brocade . . .”Nafei’ read it as Hafs, while all the rest read it as: “. . . them are garments of green silk and of brocade . . .”
