أى: وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتابَهُ بِشِمالِهِ أى: من الجهة التي يعلم أن الإتيان منها يؤدى إلى هلاكه وعذابه.
فَيَقُولُ على سبيل التحسر والتفجع يا لَيْتَنِي لَمْ أُوتَ كِتابِيَهْ أى: فيقول يا ليتني لم أعط هذا الكتاب، لأن إعطائى إياه بشمالي دليل على عذابي وعقابي.
