ثم وصف- سبحانه- العذاب بصفات أخرى، غير الوقوع فقال: لِلْكافِرينَ لَيْسَ لَهُ دافِعٌ. مِنَ اللَّهِ ذِي الْمَعارِجِ. واللام في قوله لِلْكافِرينَ بمعنى على. أو للتعليل.
أى: سأل سائل عن عذاب واقع على الكافرين، هذا العذاب ليس له دافع يدفعه عنهم، لأنه واقع من الله- تعالى- ذِي الْمَعارِجِ.
