يَقُولُ الْإِنْسانُ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَيْنَ الْمَفَرُّ أى: فإذا ما تم كل ذلك، يقول الإنسان في هذا الوقت الذي يبرق فيه البصر، ويخسف فيه القمر، ويجمع فيه بين الشمس والقمر: أين المفر. أى: أين الفرار من قضاء الله- تعالى- ومن قدره وحسابه. فالمفر مصدر بمعنى الفرار. والاستفهام بمعنى التمني أى: ليت لي مكانا أفر إليه مما أراه.
