ذَٰلِكَ لِيَعۡلَمَ أَنِّي لَمۡ أَخُنۡهُ بِٱلۡغَيۡبِ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهۡدِي كَيۡدَ ٱلۡخَآئِنِينَ ٥٢

Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran:

From this, Joseph should know that I did not speak dishonestly about him in his absence, for Allah certainly does not guide the scheming of the dishonest.

Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali & Muhammad Muhsin Khan:

[Then Yûsuf (Joseph) said: "I asked for this enquiry] in order that he (Al-‘Azîz) may know that I betrayed him not in (his) absence". And, verily! Allâh guides not the plot of the betrayers.¹
